lol......there are many great players better than messi.. he did not surpass them........can you compare messi with legends of football.....he is less than maradona,pele,zidane,henry,ronaldo,ronaldhino,kaka........ he is not the only best in this world....just he is in his peak of his talent at present....he cant sustain their....he just played good for 3 years or so.... and you are comparing him to legends.....

after seeing all the posts these days i got a question wat is he so different.....i seen all his goals and vedios and decided that he is just a goaling machine a robot tat knows tat he has to score in to the goal post passing to all defenders.....he just takes the ball with his legs and scores in the left end of the goal he never do wonders or miracles with the ball he is just a robot....ya he cant be compared with other human beings....

it depends with which generation you compare,for example I agree on that point that Messi cannot be compared with such legends as Johann Cruyff, Van Basten, Pele, George Best, Diego Maradona also Zico, Cantona, Rossi..yet... but the fact that a lot of people still compare Messi with other players means that there are plenty of footballers worth even more than he is. I agree, he is really great player, but I also don't underestimate Wesley Sneider, Forlan, Thomas Muller, Robben, Xavi, Kaka, Cristiano and lots of more. It seems to me that the author of this topic consider Messi as individual player, like tennis or smth, so dont forget Lionel Messi isn't the only one in this world, he scores also with the help of his teammates so his achievements are also closely related with a team work

Come'on, Messi is fast and know technique, but he's not complete, he's not good scorer, i mean when it comes to beautiful goals, he's shoot is not so good, the're lots of better such are legends of football, to me the best of all time is Zinedine Zidane. No one compares to him. And yes, nowadays: Muller, Ronaldo and Ozil are better than Messi, I think Messi is better in some segments but he's too incomplete to be the best...mwa:*

Messi is the best currently, Ronaldo is probably second best, Xavi could be better. It is hard to compare though because they all play different positions. I think Messi could go on to become one of the best of all time because he is still young and getting better. But to be honest he is lucky to be playing in a really really great team currently. when he plays for Argentina he is nowhere as good.

Whatever u say, I'm must add, there is no players such as Zinedine Zidane or Ronaldo senior or for example Rivaldo from his best days anymore. They played football as a team game but also were so good as individuals, that was the football, now it's all about money and marketing. Messi and Ronaldo are promoted in world-class players after one season, that's completely not fair cuzz if u say. Messi, u should also say Xavi and Iniesta, I personally think that they do much more job and always stay in shadow of Messi... They practically feed him with balls and passes. And yes, I think that Messi is good player but he still is not complete and he still need to show his talent, I'm very sorry cuzz he plays better for Barcelona than for his national team, that shouldn't be like that...and I don't know why shouldn't he be compared, he's not at the level that we can say he's good of football...and yes, I can't stand the situations that gr8 players who're loyal and play soccer many years without a bad season r that underrated, to me many players u're talking about will never be at level of Gerard or maybe Totti.... let's be honest clubs make myths of some players who're more cult and model icons than real good players just to earn money....hello, everything is about marketing 2day...kisses :*

@prince_jagadeash im sorry i cant agree with that the world cup comes once every four years and you play with players who you mostly likely are unfamiliar with and what about players who came from weaker nations who dnt have the same chances its not about wiether they are better for club or country but how well they can play and if they do play that well... for barca messi plays to his fullest everything is setup to bringout his and his teammates full potential that has been developed over 10 years a country dsnt do that messi hasnt played with tevez and di maria since the age of 12.... barca is great because it is a club is benefiting of its youth system where the majority of there players are from so they know how to play with one another and have been brought up in the same style of play that the whole team from young to 1st use... messi is a great talent and is blessed to have brought up in barca in the way he has its the sort of grooming from youth to worlds best that any player would dream of had those others been in messis position imagine what they could have acheived but thats life not everyone has the same chance.... as for comparing messi to those greats give it another 10 years then look back and decide and probably by then well be wondering if the worlds best player then is on there level and so and so on...

i think messi can be compared to alot of current players but not be supressed by them. His flare and grace is what gives him the edge. Yes ronaldo has alot of skill but the execution by messi is absolutely magnificent. If you compare messi to past legends, he may not be the best but he is up there because for me the best there was, there is and ever will be is pele. period.

messi is probably the best in the world currently simply because he scores o many goals. And I think its unfair to say that hes simply just a goal machine because hes also one of the top assisters in la liga. He's definitely not at the legend status such as ronaldo and zidane and pele of course, but right now, if messi slips cr7 could definitely take over. And i completely agree with bih_girl, Xavi and Iniesta are always overshadowed.
