He doesnt take da ball to a corner of the field and do a few step overs.....he runs at defenders......plays deep to collect the ball and if he cant score he rips defences apart with his through balls. How can you compare these two players? First look at the whole barca team and how long they have been playing together.Messi has players behind him that can control the game and are also a constant threat. Real does not have the same team chemistry on his side. if you switch both players renalso plays for barca and messi for real who would be the better player? I think ladies you forget one tiny little and unimportant thing THE ABILITY TO FIT DIFFERENT LEAGUES AND UNIVERSALITY OF THE PLAYER, Cristiano has played in Premier League then he was at his best, now it is only a second season in Real and his achievements are just amazing, so the question is: is the progress of the individual player important? Or just technique (dancing with a ball (Cristiano) or however Messi's technique can be called :D) which is a matter of taste, as the final result is the same. Anyway, I think such legends as Maradona and Johann Cruiff respect these two players not without a considerable reason. And I don't call myself a fan, because this word is quite shaky. Anyway time will tell who will become a legend :)

you know sometimes i just don't see the need to read the comments which are made by users with an icon (Barca or Real) on a picture, because it is absolutelly clear which player they will support :D you just can't enjoy a game aren't you? jealous? dissapointed? frustrated or annoyed by success of the other? I am not sure. But the fact is that both Cristiano and Lionel are coming on a pitch to show and to do all the best for their teams, and they shouldn't be judged for mistakes, because the efforts put into the game are enormous

In my opinion Messi is a better team player than Ronaldo... Also, he has fewer weaknesses than Ronaldo.. If u have a luk @ the 2006-07 Champions League, Ronaldo was literally held by Gattuso in the Semi Finals.. At the same tyme, the 07-08 Season saw Man Utd, which has one of the best Defensive line ups in the world, having trouble containing Messi... The guy kept on Running through the field creating numerous opportunities.. Though Man Utd bear Barca (an awesome piece of work by Scholsey!!!! :D), Mess's performance in the game was creditable... So I feel dats d difference... Ronaldo plays well against average teams and average players showing off skills and finding the net easily but the story is different wid higher rated teams... But with Messi, it is altogether a different story.. Also if u luk at their behaviour on the field and outside, I think Messi is far ahead of Ronaldo... :)

ok guys everyone has bad points and opinions. Messi is a team player but Ronaldo is not. Ronaldo can play every part of soccer and Messi may not, Ronaldo doesn't play well for Portugal but Messi does for Argentina blah blah blah.... Either way they r both legends of the game and have they're own ways of showing it. The rest is just peoples opinions on it. We should respect both of them for their skills as they r both amazing players of this time and I have no doubt that in many generations to come we will remember both of them as legends of football.
