Apparently darren fletchers red card decision cannot be appealed, why is this and do you agree with me it was an awful decision to send him off?

THIS RULE NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED!!!!!!

It can't be appealed because UEFA only allows appeals in the case of mistaken identity (i.e. if the ref cards the wrong player).Still, United will try something, let's see what happens. Travesty to see him get sent off, i'd have taken a yellow and a penalty, no problem, but a sending off after he busted his guts taking that ball away from fab. poor fletch. On the balance though, if at the start of the game if united were given this on a plate (3-1 win plus fletcher sent off), they'd have taken it, so a great game.

it didn't look that bad but the referee got so serious about it and thought it was intentional... indeed an awful decision...

my god i was enjoying the match up to that point ronaldo played great as did the rest of the boys and this red card just ruined the night and has messed up fletchers chance to play in the finals

there was no way that should have been a red card the ref could see the ball was in front of fabregas and his two feet where on the ground and so could the linesman who was in line with it and from that the ref must have known fletch got the ball. Uefa definnatley need to review it and fletcher wil be missed in the final

Remember when United beat Spurs a couple of weeks ago, the tv commentators kept saying "The ball changed direction so it shouldn't have been a penalty and no yellow for Gomes as the Spurs goalie must have touched it first". Well, tonight you could quite clearly see the ball head off in a direction only possible if it had been touched first by Fletcher. Replays from different angles support that conclusion. Don't know about the English commentators, but not one mention of that from the boneheads at ESPN that we in Canada have to tolerate while watching games. I hope UEFA will review and recind the card. Not holding my breath though. As we all know FIFA and UEFA tend to be years behind the rest of the us. And, if you take their "fair play" slogan seriously what can be more fair than correcting a mistake made by one of their referees?

I'm sure Sir Alex would have played Fletcher in the final... at the least as a sub...So, to take away the biggest game of his life because of a refereeing error is not fair... UEFA should do something about it...

It is an awful error by the referee..Fletch deseves to be in the final.but at the end of the day referees make mistakes and unfortunately this was a big mistake..Fletch will come through it hes a strong lad and hes still young and will no doubt be in a Champions league final once again...Remember Keano and Scholesy missing the treble season final...they were awesome through out the competition, they didnt deserve to miss the final either, but thats life..we all feel sorry for Fletch, but now we must concentrate on beating City on Sunday...

Really bad decision, looked like he got the ball to me, didnt even think it was a pen, ref just out to make a name for himself i think?

I watched the incident. It didn't look like a very dangerous foul, nor a very apparent goal opportunity. But, we won't have him in the Final match. Yet, this doesn't make a big deal, not because Fletcher is not important for Man Utd, but because of experience. In that magnificent victory over Bayern in 1999, we didn't have Keane, the captain, and Scholes. They were two key players for us. But we won the game. Throughout the history, there are many lessons we can learn from.
