I don't think the referee will get banned. I think the two issues are separate. Yes, the referee's performance was terrible and he should be punished, but the Chelsea players still shouldn't have acted like that. Especially not the way Drogba behaved on camera. The referee should be made to watch his performance on video, then explained to that he clearly needs to get a grip, and then drop him down a league in terms of the matches he referees. But that's just my opinion ;-)

I agree that these issues are separate but why referee still did not apologize for that? I become to think about UEFA like about MAFIA..what about millions of "robbed" fans that (still) wait for some unswers?

wat drogba exhibited does not uphold the spirits of soccer............but i agree .any person there would have done the same ..............in his position......probably i would have punched the ref right across his face then i would not care for the loss or for the match ban ..i serve ............he should have kicked the refree ....damn

yes....compeletly agree with u Tim....the ref's performance caused Drogba n Bosigwa's reaction,so Uefa should consider this fact,too.....but actually it was uefa's own pre-planned act,so what can we expect them now.......???

Who knows with refs these days.

It is a shame that Drobga acted that way during such a highly publicized match. I do think some action should be take against the referee - nothing too drastic, but action nonetheless.

Oh c'mon, refs was doing his job{arguably controversially and not in good way) and everyone can make mistake...at worst, he would not be trusted again with big games but he might be ref for some games in Champions League, say Dinamo Kiev-Basel?)))

Can't believe Ballack wasn't banned, he was much worse than Bosingwa, Running after the ref while the game was still in play! As for Chelsesa fans, you're due some luck in the champions league next season: 2005: Luis Garcia ghost goal in semi-finals -v- Liverpool 2007: Losing in on penalties -v- Liverpool 2008: Losing on penalties in final (John Terry slip) -v- Man United and finally 2009: The ref's performance in semi -v- Barcelona

to Caudill and Elnurcan: at least notice that Drogba appologized..in this HIGHLY PUBLICIZED MATCH he killed the game broked hearts of Chelsea supporters and what we have?..silence..in every country if referee makes a mistake he accepts his mistakes in public (newspapers or tv) because nobody is perfect..but what about this one?..what is the reason in this case?..why he did not show his respect to many football fans?..you know, too many of my friends began to show sympaty to Chelsea coz they have seen this ref disgrace..notice: they support Liv,MU and even barca.. anyway,we can speak a lot about Drogba and even remember last year final in moscow but I'm curious about the refs silence but not Didie's behaviour..

agree about Ballack but that makes me think more that at that time ref already knew about his wrong decisions..

to tell the truth im kinda amazed thats all drogba did under that situation i personally would have beaten the living day lights out of that ref whats more it pisses me that the ref didnt even have the decency to appologise for his horrific performance its things like this that makes the sport look bad i hope that twat blatter relises that his biased opinions and decisions only hurt the sport hope hes removed as president and soon

@ Faezeh: pre-planned? I suppose it was also planned to not give Barca a deserved penalty and for Bojan miss a sitter in the first leg, and to wait until the last minute for Iniesta to strike the ball perfectly into the top corner? Life is full of setbacks (sometimes undeserved) but we learn to control childish outbursts when we GROW UP. By reacting the way they did the Chelsea players showed that they were no better than the ref himself.

to John Hughes: disagree..they found courage to appologize..in games like this sometimes difficult to control urself..remember Zidane?..did u know about Materazzi much before that happened? I knew him before that game..hi ruined careers of some good players in serieA by rude tuckles..he doesnt respect opponents and gives no care if they can become invalids for all their further lifes..if someone will provoce and make u feel like piece of shit (for several times) with no reason wouldnt u behave in a same way while u r excited and think that u almost have a biggest prize in the world u want most?!?!..

@John Hughes; yes pre-planned...in the first leg it was just some mistakes of judgement that is usual at all games....at Stamford Bridge when the ref overlooked our clear penalty,we taught it's a mistake n we accepted it,then our second was overlooked n then the thirth,we still thaught it is just commen mistakes of the ref....but when we saw our 5 overlooked penalties....n also when we saw the result of 1-1 had been showed 6-7 hours b4 the match in Uefa site n also saw Platini had clearly said that he don't want an English final....n we saw this ref had very poor judgement at last games n was dismissed from uero,n ofcourse isn't suitable for a game with that importance,we had to accept that it was sth more than usual mistakes...it's not correct that we deniy Chelsea's deserveness to win in London by speaking abt some usual mistakes of refree in Barcelona thta also we saw it at Stamford Bridge for times n times....

It is impossible to minipulate a football match unless players from both sides are in on it. You can feel hard done by, sure, but that is the end of it. Look at the the Barca goal again, Essien scuffs his clearance straight to the Barca player, a few seconds later the ball is in the Chelsea net. This is circumstance, not pre-planned. The best team does not always go through in cup comprtitions that's football, it's cruel but honest.

not even blaitar and the purnishing board would've acted better. Dr ogba and his collegue bosingwa are human beings reacting only to the injustice melted on them by the sadiest referee i've never seen b4 in my life time
