Good or bad signing by Harry Redknapp?

I am a confirmed Gooner and the loss of Gallas to the Spuds is no problem! He is past his best, needs to have his own way and is very petulant. I am glad to see the back of him and 'Arry he's your problem now, best of luck!!!!

I hear ya Les. Thanks for the comment...I kinda expected those to be the sentiments of an Arsenal fan...and you are probably right.

my biggest worry is if he is past his best which is hard to know as he may not have been giving 100% at the Arse. I suspect he is still Prem league quality. Not worried about attitude as he'll be trying to impress at a new club. At best it will be a great signing of a highly experienced player, at worst he's a bit of a dick and Arry won't play him much. It's not like Spurs have a french faction who can create discord in the squad also so i don't see his presence being divisive. All in all he'll be an excellent back up to ledley so long as he understands that is his role. I'm sure Arry has mentioned that.

Did you really want an open opininion on this, Dan? Doesn't seem so, ha ha!!! Anyhow, Harry Redknapp is very insightful in his decisions. We have to be sure we know why he made this paricular move. William Gallas is an ok signing, to say the least.

@Gibbo10 - I am a little worried about his attitude. Clearly this is a stop-gap transfer...only a 1 year contract. I guess we will have to see how we do in the CL before investing in another top quality center back...what with Woodgate on the verge of retirement.

@Florence - Happy to hear all opinions! Some I'll agree with, some I won't ;-) HR isn't well known for prowess in the transfer market when he has a decent sized budget....but, he's guided us this far, so I'll just have faith.

@Dank don't worry mate he is going to be good. He's experienced and comes into a good environment with no factions. Plus we have an option for a second year so the coaches must be impressed. You know what i like about him? He just keeps saying he wants to win. Re Woody - he is gone i think for good.

I am Spurs and do not particularly like to win but believe he will do a job for us as he hates to lose

Amended post above - "do not like Gallas" but he hates to lose

He was bought on a free, so this cannot be bad news. We need cover at CB with all our injuries and since this is for just one year i think we did a good deal for an established player. Obviously he is probably past his prime, but he can still be a good quality player at the level (or above) Bassong and Kaboul
