Dirty Tactics?
Well today the Azzuri just lost one potential fan in myself. Along with any other person who enjoys clean and fair football. I won't even talk about the great performance
Paraguay
put on because it was overshadowed by the poor character of the Italians. To start the match De Rossi went on a total dive. Screaming in agony he acted as if he was shot in the back! However on replay it was evident that he was only nicked if touched at all. Way to go
Daniel
you just showed the world your great character! Later in the match another big name star Camoranesi decided he would intentionally
spike
a player. Now he did get a yellow card but ultimately it should have been a straight red. This play was worse than that of
Franck Ribery
's spiking in the Champions League. I wonder what the ref was thinking though only giving the player a yellow. Clearly he saw the intentional stamp or else he wouldn't have carded the player? Following up his spike he made another poor challenge which the referee let slide. The announcers felt that it was a yellow card offense but that since he was already booked he got off the hook.Classy play all around from this team. It's too bad stars of this caliber get away with this and feel good about themselves after the game. It get's better though, if anyone else noticed Iaquinta threw a nice elbow/punch into Paraguay's goalkeeper on a later corner! However no time for acting or complaining from the goalie because he was actually playing the game. A quick grab of his head then back to throwing in the ball, no screaming or flailing here! I was really hoping for a late goal from Paraguay to crush the Italians hopes but I'll have to wait till after the group to see them exit. I just hope they don't injure anyone before this tournament is over.
