A Blaugrana Case for Cesc, and A Challenging Case for Yuri

This sunday: Arsenal take on title contenders, away at Chelsea.
While the funky playmaker Cesc Fabregas leave the doors to his future wide open with a subtle complaints regarding the absence of an official interest [in him] from the Blaugranastan, a folkish Russian winger Yuri Zhirkov insists that journalists write about his determination to sit on Stamford Bridge comfy bench for another chance to put long deserved pressure on Ashley Cole. In any case, for Zhirkov, he could fill in the gap in midfield.

Fabregas came from Barcelona's youth academy to the [then] Highbury side in 2003. He managed to play 0 premiership games for the last title winning Arsenal side of 03/04, all the while registering a single goal in three FA Cup appearances. Although his contribution for the Gunners since could be considered heroic, it was never enough to put Arsenal one above the very best in England or Europe.

Cesc got the style to suit any team that appreciates passing skills. His Arsenal days may suggest he needs more qualified partners to make his contributions worth a little more to achieve that title-winning result. This surely leads to him thinking about playing for Barcelona.

In reality, Cesc would cost a substantial amount of money. Deep down, Wenger might be tempted to cash in on him in order to assemble the defensive line anew, since massive injury list doesn't hinder much of Arsenal's scoring record, or to challenge a Top Four finish.

Making Your Case Count.
What would surely convince Barca to purchase him? What would surely make him happy to stay, now at the Emirates, should Barca decide to pass on him? The answer to both questions is the same: a decisive victory over Chelsea this weekend.

Football walks the talk, and Zhirkov knows it like no other bench warmer. But he is a character who won't get satisfaction playing for Hamburg (no offense). There were good reasons for Zhirkov not to leave CSKA for so long, and that reason is: challenge. Ashley Cole has gone to score three goals in 21 league appearances this season, compare that to 1:34 last year, 1:50 in the two seasons before last. It's up to you how to take coincidences seriously, but this time, that coincidence is our Tambov-kid Yuri, who's not even a natural fullback. Gazzaev and Dinamo Kiev may have to spread more rumours if they are serious about loaning him.

I strongly believe that Barca should sign David Silva than Cesc Fabregas.

@Dan: yeah, these young guns arent good enough after being given the chance in three seasons. its shopping time for Wenger this summer. last time there were too much inflated price. the world cup should give him cheap options for a good gamble. @Varugh: David Silva, and the other David, is tops. name me any Spanish squad player and they can do no wrong for me (almost) :))))

Seems like Cesc is coming back home this summer...cant wait for that, that would allow Iniesta to move into Henry's position....Other than Cesc, I'd also love to have one of David Villa or Angel Di Maria....what do you think of a team like that dmitri

Akhil: very nice team :) i would search for a better achor in midfield (if available), then try getting Cesc (who really wants to move), maybe even swapping him with Keita or Yaya Toure. Btw, what happened to Ariel Del Horno, do you know?

@Sam, me good man. i dount any other player would provide Wenger with top $$$ to spend, and he will need them to bring first rate central defender and a defensive midfielder [not that any is available. its not like poching Vidic or Pique is possible]... but having said that, if Fabregas cant deliver against team of Chelsea stature, no club would want to purchase him expensively (except maybe Zenit or LA Galaxy - hoho). so i guess he's stuck. maybe David Silva is the better value of a player than Cesc

@Dmitri - Asier del Horno just got loaned to Valladolid by Valencia, he hasn't played for Valencia much because of injury problems and now they don't really rate him highly.....Cesc is a definite to Barca this summer, as far as the holding midfielder role is concerned Busquets has been doing a good job, agreed he's no Essien but he's fine, and yaya was really good last year, he'll get back to form sooner or later, and keita is very good, so i doubt we'll swap anyone for cesc, and anyways arsenal would want only money....As far as the left wing role is concerned, I don't think Silva is the answer since he does not play in that position for Valencia anymore, he's plays in the centre behind Villa and has a free role, I think Angel Di Maria would be perfect for the left wing role....I rate this kid very very highly...what do you guys think of him ??

@Akhil: cant say much of Di Maria. saw very little of him and i'm not so excited with him. one young player i do like in left winger position, but havent heard of him since, is that hungarian who plays for PSV. cant remember his name though. dont know if what i saw of him was just one week magic last august
