It's never going to happen, but David James could a be good short-term solution to Arsenal's goalkeeping problems.
So why won't it happen:
Age - at 39, he's simply too old, despite the fact he's looked after himself in recent years, Wenger will be aware he used to be a smoker and computer game addict. Nevertheless, James seems to defy the ravages of time.
James is so much more reliable now than when he was nicknamed 'Calamity'. And that's why newly-promoted WBA are chasing him.
Anyway, it will surprise no one if Thomas Sorensen arrives this summer. Quite why we couldn't get him in the winter transfer window is anyone's guess. Stoke landed Asmir Begovic from Pompey, of course, so they could have let Sorensen go. But no! My guess is we quibbled too long about the price and for a couple of quid we threw away the title. Anyway, hopefully Wenger's learned the error of his ways.
If it's not Sorensen, then perhaps we could move for Man U's Ben Foster. He's not too happy at present and United might be prepared to do a deal. Again, Foster would be preferable to Joe Hart, I reckon. I'd rank the above as follows: 1) Sorensen (way better than Almunia) 2) James (much better than Almunia) 3) Foster (slightly better than Almunia) 4) Hart (no better than Almunia)
