Carlo Ancelotti, are you overrating a DERBY?

Pre-season, there were a lot of times when Carlo Ancelotti was questioned about almost everything he might be questioned about. His responses were few and far between, and nothing unusual or charismatic came out of them. All he wanted to say was that he is looking forward to the challenges and that the team is good enough to win everything. Fair enough, but you are the manager of Chelsea FC. You have to come up with something ingenuous. Something Expected. Something unnecessary. Something good.

The wait for that elusive piece of unnecessary quote is finally over. Continue reading to know how.

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken out. He has commented on the upcoming London SW6 derby against Fulham. Here is what he had to say:

“A derby is a derby. I know the history of this club and the real derby for Chelsea is against Tottenham, but I know very well that for us Sunday will be a derby and I want to prepare like a derby. I know very well how to prepare a derby.

“It is not a normal game and we have to prepare for a particular game. I spoke with John [Terry], Ashley [Cole] and Frank [Lampard] and they feel this. We want to prepare well to play well like at Sunderland.”

I am in no position to dole out rewards, but if I was, I would certainly give a box of Strawberries to the guy who would count the number of times coach used the word ‘derby’ in his comment. Being from Milan surely has its side-effects. Over focussing on a derby is one of them.

In my opinion, he should treat this like just another game against a formidable but not so brilliant opposition, and things would be fine. What is the point of putting added pressure on the players. We at 11blues love you Carlo, do not do anything to tarnish that love. Chelsea fans can give a god-like status to their manager, but can also put them to task if they fail to perform their duties.

I sure hope that Fulham lives up to Carlo’s expectations.

Glory to the Blues.
