Do Arsenal really need Arsene Wenger?
Por Gary
After nearly 15 years in charge of Arsenal the question has to be raised should Arsenal keep him on has manager?

After Arsenal’s latest cup exit at the hands of Barcelona, and now out of two competitions with only 2 left the FA cup and the league which they probably won’t win either. Arsenal are the team over the last 5 years who have come close to winning but never do, for a club like them to go 5 years without collecting any silverware is remarkable!

21st May 2005 many Gunners remember that day, It was when the last trophy was collected by Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, since then they have only been in 3 finals (Champions league 2006, League cup 2007, 2011) and came runners up in the league once! This was in 04/05 season.

So why is it Arsenal consistently keep giving Arsene Wenger 3 year deals, have Arsenal now became a club happy not to get the results on the pitch and trophies for their loyal support. Many people say that the Arsenal board are happy as the only thing their concerned about is the money, knowing for being a bargain hunter and not buying ‘known’ players Wenger continues to sign people most have never heard of never mind saw play.

Recently regarding the January transfer window Wenger said "If you look at our transfer record, we have never spent more than £15m", he then went on to say what I find astonishing…

"We are in the market always because if a good opportunity comes up we will always take it, but we are not in a desperate situation."

Surely if you haven’t won a trophy in 5 years, then maybe you could be in a desperate situation?

Also renowned for his ‘wage cap’ you have got to bring up the aspect would players from all over the world like to come to Arsenal to play in the Premier league for £50,000 a week or should they go to Man city, United, Liverpool or Chelsea were they can get around £80,000 to £140,000.

So by the end of the season and possibly another without a single trophy, should Arsenal be looking elsewhere for someone to bring back to Arsenal what many fans feel they need a winner, someone who if need be will buy the world class player offer him the wage he wants, someone who will make their players shoot from outside the box and deploy maybe different tactics, atmosphere, winning mentality around the place.

Maybe Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola would be better suited to take over at the helm?

One thing is for sure if Arsenal want to start winning trophies again they might have to let go of Le Professeur.

What makes you think that?

Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola will only know how to spend club's money. They dont know how to build a player and wont care about the club financial. At Arsenal, the management really love Arsene way. Arsene keeps Arsenal in a good line weather in business or in football. Yeah, since this recent years, Arsenal dont have trophy yet but he keep this club in top 4 of Premier League, he keep them qualified in every Champs League tournament. Thats what peoples didnt see.

Understand about the logic of keeping the club's money in a great situation, but surely any fan at a club that big 'need' trophies?

The man who wrote this article is a clown. I still believe Wenger is the man to lead Arsenal forward. In 10 years we will all know what a great job he did...

Thanks for reading, you think Wenger will still be there in 10 Years? You don't think 5 years without a trophy for them is bad?You think he will win a trophy in the next couple of years?

what a twat the person who wrote this is look at what wenger has brought to the club the players the style of football the records a whole season unbeaten !its the only club in the top four which gives youth players a chance it would be a breath of fresh air to see arsenal win the leauge this year a team that has been built not just bought our clubs been intrasition with the team and this is what chealsea and utd will have to face upto with key players which are irreplaceable at the end of their carers the last time utd were in transition its was a long time before they won anything and what did chealsea win before abramovic wenger has built a team from very littel which i belive will soon be a dominant force but thats because im an actual arsenal fan and belive in wengers philsophy 100 % it would be our biggest loss if he left the club !

are you mad... The fact we've been so close to trophies in the first place means its only a matter of time, jesus I hate people who don't think about what they are saying, why the hell should we ditch a manager who has built us up and brought us "unknown" players and turned them into greats, we got knocked out by the best team in the world two years in a row, there is no shame in that. Luck is all we need, not a new manager, we don't even need to spend- Szczheny- Sagna, Djourou, Vermaelen, Clichy- Wilshere, Song, Fabregas- Nasri, RVP and Walcott.. thats a team Arsenal can be proud of and our bench would be strong as well

Arsene Bought his Team for £40million - (£10m less than The Sun allows in its 'Dream Team' competition) and has successfully built a top four team, which consistently qualify for the Champions league and challenge for the title. Compare this to the £148m Fergie spent on his team, and the £110m Mouriniho spent on transfers alone in his time at Chelsea, that means discounting the original players. And how much 'Bang' for their 'Buck' do these teams get? so far this season; Utd are just three points ahead of Arsenal, with a harder run in and playing one game extra; and Chelsea fighting for a champions league place themselves! To say that Arsene's time is up at Arsenal is an insult, after all, the man is MR Arsenal. He lives and breathes Arsenal and has created a system which will see a sustainable and bright future for the club; his youth development has currently seen Gibbs, Walcott and Wilshere appear for England as well as bringing the likes of Bentley and Cole through the Ranks - yet still we are criticised for having to may foreign players apparently blocking the paths of English talent! And it must be remembered that the average age of Arsene's protégées' is only 23, yet this team is still challenging for trophies as much as they can and consistently reaching a champions league spot. Pep Guardiola himself said that Arsenal are a great team who never disappear, so how can it be said that Arsene has given all he can when he has put together a team who are already of a quality standard, play a dynamic flowing game and who cost less than a third of their rivals' teams? and all this was only begun after the 2005 FA cup win, after the likes of the old players of Bergkamp, Pires, Henry, Paurlour and Keown had left. If Fergie, Jose and Ancellotti were all asked to give up their dinosaurs of Giggs, Neville and Lampard among others, do you think they could deliver a team costing less than £50m, of top four quality and who have the stones to challenge for trophies and even have the belief and courage to go up against any team in the world and play their game, win or lose, with no fear?

Arsene Wenger has a blindspot for goalkeepers and central defenders, they'll win trophies an lots of them, patience is a virtue. Regardless, Wenger has built a new identity for Arsenal and a legacy at which is unparalleled. I'd rather be an Arsenal fan than a Man City fan...http://donttouchthegrass.blogspot.com/
