It's all going off at Arsenal...erm, no it's not. It's actually all going on around Arsenal, but the moves that are happening on the transfer front could be beneficial to Arsenal...if we can be bothered to actually do something on the transfer front, that is.
First of all, Artur Boruc has moved from Celtic to Fiorentina for just £1.7m. Sounds very cheap to me. He's better than Fabianski, that's for sure, so if he's only worth that, how much is Fabianski worth? Well, I don't want to be rude, so I'm not going to say. Anyway, the great irony here is Boruc was a long-term Arsenal transfer target supposedly, so now he's moving somewhere to possibly displace another long-term Arsenal transfer target: Sebastien Frey.
Now Frey is French, so should fit right in at Arsenal. He's 30 and very experienced. He makes the occasional error, but generally he's got a pretty good reputation. He's retired from the international scene, so that's a good thing from our perspective. Boruc has not gone to Fiore to be a bench-warmer, so I think Frey will move. The question is will it be to Arsenal. Possibly. If we're prepared to pay £3m, we may well get him, I think.
Then there's Micah Richards. Liverpool were told he's not for sale. But Man City are buying Maicon apparently. How much game time will Richards get at City if he stays? Less than last season is my guess. So Arsenal could bid for him. We've been linked with him that long, after all. But then again, why didn't we get him years ago. Was it the £20m price tag? Probably. Will it be any less now? Maybe, but I reckon we'll have to pay £15m to get him. Is he worth that? Probably not. Wenger has some doubts about his lifestyle, well, that's what I heard...it's not exactly 'gospel', but there may some truth in it.
And then there's Connor Wickham, the new Wayne Rooney! Ipswich want £10m and so far Spurs have offered half that and ready to bid £8m, according to the Daily Mail. I can't see Arsenal entering into a bidding war for this teenage Championship player, but I could be wrong.
So to summarise, what are the percentage chances of these deals happening:
Frey to Arsenal - 70% chance
Richards to Arsenal - 30% chance
Wickham to Arsenal - 10% chance
