Spurs boss Harry Redknapp believes he has 'every chance' of signing goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa.
If Spurs land the Croat, he will compete with Heurelho Gomes for the number one spot, while Carlo Cudini will continue to provide excellent back-up as a reliable third choice keeper.
Meanwhile, at nearby Arsenal, the goalkeeping crisis continues with Arsene Wenger keeping the faith with his two mediocre-at-best keepers, backed up by two promising rookies.
Arsène Wenger admitted to the official club website that he does not currently have an automatic first-choice keeper. Lukasz Fabianski (nicknamed 'Flapianski' last season for his series of bizarre gaffes), Vito Mannone (man-of-the-match at Fulham) and Wojciech Szczesny all appeared between the sticks in Saturday's pre-season win over Barnet while Manuel Almunia was conveniently sick. After the game, Wenger confirmed that the No 1 spot was open for next season. "We are still active in the transfer market," he said after the 4-0 win. "At the moment, in pre-season, there is no No 1 - you have to give a chance to everyone to show how good he is. You cannot decide that today. When asked about media reports linking him with Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer, Wenger replied: "Not really. "We are still looking at various situations, but I would not like to come out on any individuals."
Meanwhile, Spurs are set to add Pletikosa's name to their already impressive goalkeeping roster.
"We might be taking another Croatian, goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa, we have every chance," Redknapp told Croatian Soccer Report.
"We might be getting him and that's good."
