Does Hill-Wood work for Arsenal or is he a double agent?
Por 360footbal...

Mad King George...aka Peter Hill-Wood is an expert at putting his foot in his mouth. What a shame he's not a contortionist instead of the chairman of Arsenal. He's an official embarrassment.

Fresh after unsettling out best player by stating he wouldn't get in the Barcelona team, Hill-Wood is now putting going public on our transfer activity. Strange for a club that are so secretive about transfer dealings. I wonder what Wenger thinks about Hill-Wood's latest outburst to the Daily Star on the future of Mark Schwarzer of Fulham.

"We have made an enquiry for him and they are not prepared to sell him so we have gone away," the Arsenal chairman told the Daily Star.

"We can only hope they will change their minds, but at the moment it doesn't look like it."

So how will that make Manuel Almunia feel? Unwanted, I should think. What if we don't sign a new keeper? Can we expect a good season out of Almunia then? Probably not. And if he's not at the top of his game, he's quite close to useless. And who's fault will that be? Hill-Wood.

Not content with upsetting one player, Hill-Wood scuppered any lingering hopes we might have of re-signing William Gallas.

"He is asking for too much for too long," he said.

"Players are going to have to learn some time that money doesn't grow on trees."

I hope you're not taking a salary from our club for your rantings and ravings Mr Hill-Wood. I think your outbursts are a disgrace and you should be removed from your position before you inflict more damage on this club you claim to love. Oh and perhaps you should call the men in white shirts, and sing: 'They're coming to me away, ha ha, he he!'

I know Peter Hill-Wood speaks before putting brain in gear, but I do believe that he has the clubs best interests at heart. I would not put to much store on what is written in a rag like the Daily Star, they will print anything if they think it will sell copy. I should know used to work for Current Bun.... As for Gallas, I think that Hill-Wood might be right there, we should go out and sign a replacement, thank William Gallas for all that he has done and tell him that he is surplus to requirements... He is reaching the end of his career and getting too injury prone!

many Italian owners are not shy of speaking their mind and more often than not, they get the players to perform, look at Zamparini, he talks a lot and gets the most out of the players, insulting his coaches or players.

Yes, I know quotes get changed sometimes, Les...especially when it's a translation...and even in English, journos rarely quote word for word, but I think Hill-Wood has probably said something like what's been attributed to him. As a result, I'm not sure we'll get Schwarzer now. Also we're guilty of doing exactly what we're accusing Barcelona of doing: unsettling another club's player. And I know what you mean about Gallas' recent injury record. It's not good. But if he's fit, I'd give him a decent contract for a year. But now Hill-Wood has spoken, Gallas will definitely leave I'm afraid. http://www.360football.co.uk/Arsenal

I know what you mean about Italy, Stanley, but outspoken chairman usually get players disgruntled it seems to me. Players generally don't have much respect for chairmen...especially outspoken ones. http://www.360football.co.uk/Arsenal

Firstly how can you compare what he said to what Barcelona have done??...I think it's fair to say he just stated the facts when questioned which is what we deserve to hear right now. Almunia's time as number 1 is obviously up and I really was not too keen on getting Schwarzer as a replacement, I have no doubt we will sign someone but I'm hoping its more along the lines of a joe hart or rene adler. As for the William Gallas 'outburst' please point out to me the part that you have a problem with. Come on it's Gallas, we all know he is probably asking for too much money and too many years, These players do need to learn that money doesn't grow on trees, how many of them can you say are playing FOR the club. Please don't lambust Hill-Wood for sticking up for the club and telling us what we need to know. On a different note, when do you think we will actually make some serious moves in the Transfer Market? I was hearing of this mass exodus of players from the club which never materialised, Rosicky, Eduardo time to go! Lastly, the Fabregas thing has gone on too long and at this point i'd rather see him gone after HIS outbursts. Gourcuff in! Cheers, David.

My problem with Hill-Wood, David, is his comments unsettle players, eg Cesc and before that Ashley Cole. I don't really care about Almunia that much, but until we sign a new keeper I'd rather the club keep quiet on that subject. Gallas was probably going to leave anyway, but Hill-Wood's comments mean he definitely will go. I just don't know why club officials are spouting off in the public domain before deals are done. It's so un-Arsenal like. We hate it when other clubs talk about our players, so why is Hill-Wood doing the same thing? I really think Hill-Wood's done a lousy job as chairman. He should let the media speculate and not reveal our hand. I was hoping we'd get all our deals done before the World Cup kicks off, but it looks unlikely now. Joe Cole looks on, as soon as England get knocked out! I make you right on Eduardo: it's sad, but he's not the player he was. Rosicky deserves another season, I think, because he started to come good at the end of last season. I agree with you on Cesc and Gourcuff. I want Cesc to stay but only if he's going to give us 100%. I think he will leave next summer. What I'm worried about is who we're going to bring in to strengthen our defence. Any ideas? http://www.360football.co.uk/Arsenal
