Teams are in my opinion of current strength order

Chesterfield
• A throughly professional performance against Notts County from a well balanced side that have all the attributes to win the title.
Robert Page was back to his best alongside Ian Breckin and this performance suggests the defence will be very hard to breach.
Jamie Lowry continues to improve now he has found his best position out wide. Two penalties topped an excellent display.
• Mark Allot and Derek Niven forming a solid midfield partnership.
• After his performance on Saturday, Notts County singled out Donal McDermott as a key player and doubled up on him. To have a player that dangerous speaks volumes and the Spireites will be desperate to hold onto the Man City youngster beyond his loan period.

Notts County
• After two easy games, back to reality for County against what looks the best side currently in the league.
• The fact that Chesterfield needed two penalties masks the way that County were easily matched. However this should not detract from the quality that the Magpies have and with some more recruits to replace the weak links left from last year County are still the best equipped to win the title.
Lee Hughes was kept well in check by the opposing centre backs.
• Another bright substitute appearance from Karl Hawley, who looks a classy player at this level. He must now be starting gameas alongside Hughes.
• The promising Craig Westcarr really struggled against top opposition.

Rotherham United
• The Millers are still not firing and they were more than matched by Grimsby Town.
Nicky Law looks a quality player but Tom Pope is struggling for form.
Jamie Green, who looked so good for much of last season, has not yet come anywhere near matching those performance levels.
• Central midfield still lacking creativity and Mark Robins will have to rectify this if he is to keep tabs with Notts County and Chesterfield, who have signnificantly raised the bar.

Bury
• A tidy win for Bury to put the opening day defeat well behin d them.
• Young striker Domaine Rouse had looked sharp against Leeds and looks a striker of some potential.
• Two excellent goals from Ryan Lowe gives the Shakers plenty of solid options in attack and goals should be plentiful in coming games.
• Back five still solid and reliable and left back Buchananan improving all the time.
David Worrall is a livewire on the wings and he will frighten plenty of defences.
• Dawson and Barry-Murphy looked classy in central midfield but will have to perform in the same manner against much stronger opponents before Bury's promotion credentials can be accurately weighed up

Rochdale
• The goals of the deaprted Adam Le Fondre are being badly missed.
Joe Thompson and Will Buckley not working up front and an out and out striker is needed. With funds available from Le Fondre sale and resale fees from Rickie Lambert's move to Southampton, Keith Hill should be able to bring someone in.
Adam Rundle's crossing much improved. He now needs to deliver consistently.
Craig Dawson and Marcus Holness look very solid at the back. Holness' mistake for the goal should not detract from an excellent game and it is hoped that he puts this behind him and looks forward.

Bournemouth
• Quietly went about their business but failed to impress against a moderate and weakened Aldershot side.
• The Cherries have a threadbare squad and having already beaten two of the top clubs must make sure they don't get complacent at those lower down the table.
• Strikeforce of Fletcher and Pitman failed to fire for the second successive game and reinforcements will be needed if Bournemouth are to last the pace.
• Defender Warren Cummings gave an indication that he may be in for a good season, looking strong and energetic.

Dagenham & Redbridge
• Scored five for the second successive game and once again John Still has built an excellent side from virtually nothing. Still has no peers in the lower leagues when it comes to unearthing talent and if this side are as successful as last year's then it would be a travesty if a Championship club didn't come calling and give him a chance to manage at a higher level.
• Four goals from Paul Benson showed Shrewsbury what they had missed out on.
Will Antwi has stepped up well to replace the departed Magnus Okuonghae.
• The midfield four have built a superb understanding and Peter Gain has slotted in very well on the left hand side having moved from the centre.
• The teancious Stuart Thurgood had a tremendous game and looks a shrewd acquisition.
• Winger Danny Green has slotted into Sam Saunders' shoes effortlessly but has more pace. Another great find.

Lincoln City
• Beat a regressive Bradford in workmanlike style.
• Defence again looked solid and Cian Hughton has been a good addition at full back.
• Young striker Chris Fagan will have gained plenty of confidence from his first goal following two lacklutsre performances in the league, having looked a player of potential in pre-season.

Northampton Town
• Finally found some form against Accrington but Stanley were a shadow of the one that beat Lincoln on Saturday.
• In Chris McCready and Dean Beckwith, Stuart Gray has found a good central defensive partnership but Paul Rodgers has not started the season well at full back.
Adebayo Akinfenwa was a powerful presence and Steve Guinan showed his class up front. Young Billy McKay also scored and fans will be hoping these three strikers help the Cobblers find the net on many more occasions than they did last season.

Cheltenham Town
• A fortunate win for Cheltenham as veteran Julian Alsop capitalised on a mistake to snatch a last gasp winner.
• Sub Barry Hayles looked sharp but Elvis Hammond and Tom Denton were well contained by Rochdale's new centre back pairing.

Crewe Alexandra
Calvin ZOla bagged the winner for the Railwaymen but it was tough on Darlington who had battled well and deserved to share the spoils.
• Winger Joel Grant has started the season in excellent form.
• Keeper Dave Button, who has not really covinced but was improving with every game, has returned to Tottenham. It will be interesting to see how this affects the team after their two recent positive results.

Barnet
• A win for Barnet but a thoroughly unconvincing display that will need to be improved drastically upon if the Bees are to sustain outside hopes of troubling the top seven at the end of the season. They were lucky to come up against an out of form Morecambe.
Kenny Gillet played well and provided a good cross for Paul Furlong's goal. He has been showing the wingers how it is done.
• Despite the goal, Albert Jarrett does not look as big a threat as Yannick Bolasie but it would be hard for Ian Hendon to drop Jarrett so he could have a selection headache.

Torquay United
• The Gulls comprehensively outplayed fellow promoted side Burton.
• Good performances throughout with only Chris Hargreaves failing to impress.
Wayne Carlisle looks a very good player at this level and will continue to make life tough for opposing defences with his crossing.
Elliot Benyon and Scott Rendell have struck up a good partnership up front.

Accrington Stanley
• Having looked a solid side in recent games, Stanley were shocking against Northampton and it must be put down as a "bad day at the office".
Paul Mullin does not look an effective targetman any more and John Coleman needs to rethink his attacking strategies this season.
Robert Grant, having looked highly promising on the opening day, has not looked the same player in subsequent games.

Burton Albion
• Albion were poor for the majority of the second half of the last campaign and have carried that indifferent form into the new season.
• No player was awful but they simply lacked ideas against Torquay, a team they knew well from last season.
Jimmy Phillips was the only player who came away with any credit.
Guy Branston again failed to perform and Peschisolido may well have made a poor choice in appointing him as captain particularly following his confrontation with fans.

Morecambe
• Having expected to progress this season, the Shrimps once again looked a pale imitation of the side from last season.
Darren Moss has not looked comfortable at full back and Phil Jevons is too inconsistent to be the side's main goal hope.
• Manny Panther had a solid debut in midfield on loan from Exeter.
Michael Twiss has been the side's main threat and is setting a fine example.

Bradford City
• One of the early season favourites, Bradford have gone backwards and Stuart McCall's management must continue to be called into question.
Chris Brandon continued his comeback and is looking sharper by the game. He does not look an out and out winger though,
• The performances of full back Simon Ramsden, a summer signing from Rochdale, have been the only positive from the season so far.
Gareth Evans partnered Peter Thorne but still no goals.

Shrewsbury Town
• Another promotion favourite that is really struggling, Shrewsbury were taught a lesson by a rampant Dagenham & Redbridge.
• The Shrews failed to get the ball to the strikers and they were overrun in all areas of the field. Paul Benson would not have scored at all in this team.
• Full back Dean Holden has now had three poor games and will be targetted as a weak link.

Macclesfield Town
• Keith Alexander is taking Macclesfield in the right direction and they used their height and strength to outmuscle and outplay a toothless Port Vale.
• Young centre back Shaun Brisley will have taken plenty of confidence from his display alongside the consistently solid Paul Morgan.
Hamza Bencherif seems to be a player that gives the Silkman some genuine class at this level.
Colin Daniel can be hit and miss but definitely showed his quality against Vale. He needs to perform this well every game.

Darlington
• A performance that can give the Quakers heart as they did not deserve to lose to Crewe, however they did not deserve to win either.
Mark Bower has not looked comfortable at full back and is out of form.
• Former Hull City defender Matt Plummer took his chance to impress and will benefit from an extended run in the side.
• Youngster Jamie Chandler again looked solid as did Curtis Main when he came on and he must be ready for a start up front.

Hereford United
• A comprehensive defeat for the Bulls against a confident Bury side who look set to challenge for automatic promotion.
• No positives but poor games from Kenny Lunt who offered little in midfield and Keith Lowe who had a game to forget in defence.
Matt Done gave a worryingly uncommitted display after coming on in the second half to replace Lee Morris who looked improved from his previous games.

Port Vale
• Having set up his side to defend well in their first two games, Micky Adams will have been disappointed to have been so outplayed by Macclesfield.
Kris Taylor will always be a threat on the left flank and could be a key player this season.
Doug Loft and Anthony Griffith did little in midfield and a visibly unfit Claus Bech Jorgensen will walk into the side once he is match sharp.

Grimsby Town
• Grimsby have started the season poorly but this was much more encouraging. With key players absent, the Mariners can improve markedly once Mike Newell has a full squad to pick from.
Jamie Clarke had a very good game while Danny North seized his opportunity and can go from strength to strength as he will rarely be up against such formidable League Two defenders as Sharps and Fenton.

Aldershot Town
• Only losing by the odd goal, the Shots will be disappointed but their opponents certainly had an off day.
Dave Winfield had his best game in an Aldershot shirt but too many players failed to shine.
• Gary Waddock has a threadbare squad but, despite being the lowest rated currently, the Shots cannot be judged fully until they have all their best players available. However it looks like it could be a long hard season.
