Jol anger at Dembele decision

Fulham boss Martin Jol has admitted he was "angry" at Moussa Dembele's sending off in Thursday's 1-0 Europa League defeat against Wisla Krakow.

David Biton's goal gave the Polish side their first-ever win against English opposition to open up Group K. Those following the Carling Cup betting will know Fulham are out of that competition, and the Europa League offers them a chance of winning a trophy, so they will have been displeased by the result.

While both teams ended the match with 10 men after Osman Chavez was sent off for the home side, the decision to dismiss Dembele in the first half appeared to change the course of the game and hand Wisla the initiative.

The Belgium international looked to have been fouled by Gervasio Nunez but his reaction got him into trouble and he will now be banned for one game.
Jol admitted the decision was hard to take but he refused to be critical of the referee.

"I was angry," Jol said. "If you are in control and lose a player that is a normal feeling. That changes everything. After seeing it, of course it is wrong as he raises his hand but you can't say it is a push.

"You could say it was a frustrating evening. Before the sending off I think we were in control. The pace was good, possession play was good and I was very satisfied.

"Then we got a straight red card and that makes it difficult for any team. Even after that we should have had a couple of decisions."

He added: "You can't say anything about the referee, bad or good."

Jol has taken the Europa League seriously this season and, unlike some of his fellow Premier League managers, has fielded virtually a full-strength side in most games. People looking at the Europa League betting odds should bear this in mind.

However, the defeat in Poland means their chances of qualifying are far from certain and the Cottagers will hope to exact revenge when Wisla come to London in just under a fortnight.
