I saw an article on Goal.com on why Spain will lose and to me it's a little one sided, the following article will explain why, and also why Spain will be too good for Portugal tonight in the battle of the Iberian peninsula.

Firstly the writer of the afore-mentioned piece said Spanish full backs were vulnerable to attacks from Portugal's mighty wingers. What about Portugal, Quieroz can't even decide on the same right back two games in a row, which would suggest he has no faith in that position. Personally I would choose Miguel, although he is crazy, and unpredictable, he is still their best choice. Duda is basically a squad player and offers something but not nearly enough at this level. I would choose the sublime might of Sergio Ramos and the experience of Capdevila any day of the week over Miguel and Duda.

Granted Ronaldo is a threat to any full back, but he may be played upfront alone again, which by the way; is a huge mistake, so he won't offer the same threat. Simao was great, but has lost his edge and looks a shadow of his former self, he certainly won't give Ramos nightmares. So unless Portugal play with Almeida or Liedson upfront, those worries will be non-existent.

I have also heard it said that the Portuguese have the best defence, and the records prove they have conceded no goals, but the last game was a formality and Brasil were without Robinho, Kaka and Elano. Let's not forget Puyol and Pique are about as effective a centre back partnership as you are likely to find throughout the world of football.
Credit to Portugal, they are strong, but if we're talking about thugs (Dimitri), I watched Porto Vs. Benfica in the Portuguese cup final, and Bruno Alves should be in prison for his actions, also I will never forget Pepe for Real Madrid against Getafe at the tail end of season 2008-2009, where he kicked the Getafe player in the back while he was on the ground defenceless, and for my money, Pepe should have been thrown out of football for that. So expect una tarjeta roja or dos.

Look at the benches and you will see a huge difference in quality, Fabregas, Silva, Navas, Pedro, Martinez, Llorente, Marchena, Arbeloa, Valdes. Most of them would walk into the Portugal squad if available to.

Also if Fernando Torres shows up this time, he has the ability to destroy any team, especially flanked by Villa and Iniesta, so I'll make one more statement which proves Spain will emerge victorious from the battle of Iberia. Casillas, Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevila, Busquets, Xavi, Alonso, Iniesta, Villa, Torres.

'nuff said, enjoy the game my friends.
