According to new statistics produced, Liverpool are the most supported Premier League team on Facebook – which seems to have truly ticked off our city rivals Everton.

The rankings for the social networking website sees the mighty Liverpool sit top with over one million Facebook fans, while our lowly neighbours languish in eighth place with only a little over 20,000.

In the league table of Premier League fans, we are ahead of Manchester United and have almost double the numbers of fans online than Arsenal, while Chelsea lag behind with over 600,000 less than us.

These new figures seem to have touched a raw nerve at Everton and their official website is urging fans to go online and show their love for their team.

Maybe Rafa was right a couple of years ago when he described the Goodison Park outfit as a “small team”, as it seems their fans are even reluctant to declare their support for Everton.

They even sit behind Manchester City in the rankings, which could suggest a few glory hunters have jumped on the bandwagon already.

Come on Liverpool FC fans, let also get onto Facebook and show our love, if not only to irritate the blue half of the city a little bit more.
