It is being reported that
Napoli
fans will start a petition to bring their home town boy,
Fabio Cannavaro
to the Italian Serie A club.
Cannavaro's agent was quoted, the Italian world cup winner would want to return to his home town and even agree to take pay cuts.
However,Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis claims they "do not need" the player.
Since the Napoli club in itself is not taking the initiative to make a deal with
Real Madrid
who have the services of the player under contract till June, the radio channel decided to step up.
The radio channel,Radio Marte, has decided to be the intermediary between the public of Naples and the board of the club. They have started an online petition campaign which has already recieved 4000 signatures.
Now,this sure is a very interesting way to get a club to sign the player and have their opinions heard.Comparing this to the role of Scouts and Football directors placed on the clubs' board as is the scenario in
Spain
and
Italy
,this is very different. English club,
Newcastle United
tried to implement the same under Dennis Wise which didn't go down well with the St.James' Park faithfuls and also saw the resignation of
Kevin
Keagan.
If the same policy were to be implemented in major clubs across Europe,it would be highly interesting and the transfer rumours which were earlier started by the newspapers would be taken over by the people on the street.
Arsenal
would have at least one big signing in the summer,
Real
Madrid would get the real opinion on their "eagerness" to sign
Cristiano Ronaldo
and best of all, this would mean the smaller clubs would also get a bigger share of the transfer pie. This obviously means the end of the managers' say in the transfer saga.

wow, that would be an interesting development. fan power i say - if we pay so much to see a match, why not have a say in the players the club brings in. but it would totally change the game.

It would be interesting for the fans but then again would it be interesting for the club at large.I mean how many fans would consider important things like squad strength and players already in the ranks to get to the starting XI.Also the youngsters might be the ignored part of the transfer process. Not to forget, the already dodgy youth development system would be most affected.
