Anyone else p**sed off with boring international weeks with no ultra competitive club football ,this is compounded by the likes of Andora,Faroe ilses, san marino competiting making pointless fixtures + all eastern bloc fall out teams soccer record ,gdp and population and stadia must count and these minnows play a pre competition two leagues top two get to play off to decide qualifier into world or Euro cups ???
International soccer is so slow and boring until the big competitions kick off!
comments please.

I disagree...there are occasionally big games during qualifications, such as today's Republic of Ireland-Italy, Russia vs Germany and Denmark vs Sweden...its actually worth watching if u follow actually important games and do NOT WATCH GAMES OF ANDORRA AND SAN MARINO

Well, here the Brazilian league enters the final straight and even without some key players, who are disputing the WC qualifiers, the expectation is for great games this weekend. This week the two games that caught my attention were Brazil vs. Uruguay and Germany v Nigeria by the world under-20 in Egypt. I just watched the extra time of Brazil vs. Germany but my special match for today is Flamengo x São Paulo. Argentina vs. Peru will also be dramatically interesting.

There have been some good games so far today, the Russia-Germany game was good. Urubu, how can there be such a big match during the international week? Any players from those teams in the national team?

It may seem bizarre, and really is, but the CBF is always a great opponent for the Brazilian teams. The international week does not work here. Some clubs have lost their key players for two rounds just in a crucial moment of decision. Flamengo without Adriano and Fierro(Chile) against São Paulo without Miranda will be decisive for both teams. The same for Victor(Grêmio), Tardelli(Atlético Mineiro), Diego Souza(Palmeiras), Sandro(Internacional).

PS, Stanley: Fierro is always on the bench(not an ace) but with the suspension of Leo Moura and injury of Kleberson (playing for the seleção few months ago) today he would be important. Mengo is feeling more the lack of Adriano.

Urubu how do you feel about the club disruption and the sheer size of the world cup qualifying rounds for South American's? In Europe club is nearly always above country. Maradonna belly floping in the downpour was really funny shame for such a good player to ruin his reputation after he stopped playing.

Teddy, for me, and i belive for any supporter in any part of the world, the club is always above the country. In the circle of politics the game involves money and power and Brazilian teams always lose when facing the CBF/FIFA mafia. About the SA wc qualifying they are only 10 teams, so I think it´s fair everyone against everyone in two turns. Even with games above 2000 meters, like in Bolívia. Maradona player is one thing, as a coach is another and the belly slide is nothing compared to other unfortunate attitudes by Diego, mainly over his recent career as a coach. The worst is that he really believes he is God and can qualify Argentina based on miracles. At least, for those who want to believe in miracles, it worked yesterday. The referee ended the game at the exact moment of a penalty for Peru...

@teddy - I think it was even more boring for England fans because the outcome was more or less irrelevant, and the game wasn't on TV! But yeah, I won't disagree with you that the pulse rate drops a little when it's international fixtures week. I think the players should keep playing through - what's this nonsense of needing rest and getting tired??? For the amount of money they are paid, they should be putting in overtime like no-one else right?!
