Confused Economy
Por Punkdunk
Im just sitting here thinking. Refusing to go to bed before the bottle of red wine is empty. I am reading and thinking. Reading about Kaka, and how fantasy dollars are flying everywhere, when at the same time GB are looking at an unemployment number on its way to pass the magic 2 000 000! Some clubs struggled before and are in danger now, other clubs are thightning their spending (even Chelsea) spree, and a few clubs lives in a "fantasy world" (I think that was Mr.Wengers words).

Is there really necessery with a january window. The hype and the tension it brings, dont contribute to a nice atmosphere. Should there be open all year market, or only in the summer, then, you might ask. I dont really know. As a Gunner I am really happy for the oppertunity to buy reinforcements (if that really is happening?), but again the ugly face of football appears in form of agents and clubs where money is the main concern. Even Arshavin said his value was more like what Arsenal offered, than what Zenit demanded. Good thing is that Wenger doesnt budge for that shit.

The money problem is also a topic in Tippeligan in Norway, where a few clubs got more money than others, and then again can offer good contracts. Boss of capitol club Vålerenga wants a "german inspired" football economy. Which is basically a model where performance is revarded. By matches played, team success and so on. By doing this the wage-spiral dont go out of hand, but at the same time the successfull clubs can offer better deals.

But there is so much going on that confuses. New rules coming in. Contracts can annulled if you are that and that age, and have done blabbla. Why cant a contact actually mean an agreement, that both parts respect?? Thats also what I like with the AC Milan handling of Kaka, if its true, that they left him with the choice. Obviously theres also a tinywiny bit of politics involved, as we have seen in Italy before. And I have also heard talk that the transfer system as we know it today, will dissapear. There wont be anymore selling or buying, only players with agent discussing wages. No fees. What then?

These were just some thoughts. There is no more red wine left

Drunk?! The Kaka Case is definitely a special one. I think that usually when a club accepts a bid for one of their players, the player takes it as a sign that the club aren't committed to them, and are happy to see them go. Kaka has redefined the game somewhat, and will endear himself to a lot of football fans following his decision. I dont know enough about the German system, but now that players will be able to buy out their contracts, things are bound to get more confusing... It definitely is a "confused economy"

Indeed, seems to be weird times. Economies in crisis, but transfer fees seem to be going up and up. Kinda weird... and crazy!

I think that depends Dan K. I dont think its strange that a club would sell a player for that amount. Basically because no footballplayer is worth that much. Milan did the same thing when Chelsea came with big money for Shevchenko. He took the bet. And lost. Kaka is playing safe by discarding ManC. I really dont like the development and can only pray that Arsenal dont get bought up like so many others. At the same time, the real fans who would go to every match, cant afford the tickets, not to speak about food and drinks. I am not one of those fans, but making money cant become more important than football itself. That is what happens right now. Mega-supporter-stores opening up all around the globe, ownership shifting hands (maybe Kaka would think different of City if Eriksson was the boss?), prices increasing along with the players income (young footballplayers thinking about their retirement in terms of economy??), contracts being all the more irrelevant as long as the cash is there, the secret wheeling and dealing in back corridors. Everyfuckingthing is about money. I know, I know, its not only in football, its everywhere. And yeah, I am tired of that too.
