Franz Beckenbauer
Por Alex Carlton
Franz Beckenbauer today has stated that England as a National team have gone back to 'kick & rush' football after our dismal display against USA, Saturday night.

I for one, totally agree. I feel it is down simply to technical ability and mentality. These as I see it come down to youngsters growing up and being educated correctly.

Please discuss.

I don't think it should come as a surprise to anyone, in 2002, what did England resort to vs Brazil? In 2004, what did England resort to vs Portugal? In 2006, what did England do throughout the tournament? In 2008 against Croatia what did England do? In those years, a vast number of the players involved then are still involved now, so why should we be surprised?

Well..the bigger concern is the "home grown" talent issue brought up...Today England has world class players in Rooney , Gerrard , Lampard , Rio etc...Except for Rooney ..all are either past or approaching 30s...And the next line seems to be thin...Germany faced this issue in the late 90s , when players like Voller , Klinsi , Kohler , Babbel, Hassler ,Matheus etc retired in a short gap..But fortunately / unfortunately Bundesliga teams have to depend on home grown talent to an extend ,as big names often doesnt find Deutschland appealing...That might be the reason we see a clutch of quality talent coming through...England may need to look at the scenario as well

Can't disagree with the Kaiser, based on one game. Maybe Capello thinks that's all English players are capable of, but then before the World Cup he was praising the players' technical ability. Strange eh? Let's see how we play in the other 2 games. http://www.360football.co.uk

It was a disappointing performance for sure. There's new blood coming through, but not fast enough, and not of a high enough quality.
