What do you know about Serbia and our clubs?

Serbia is a Little country in Southeastern Europe..there isn't so much people as in Spain,Russia,Brazil,USA....But we have great football players..Problem is that most people don't know who we are and where we are...irritating,i'snt it?.And what is more frustrating is that our clubs are so poor,so our clubs have to sell best players and that's how they survaving.

Did you ever hear for Partizan? It is he best club in our country, and we played League Champions in 2003rd year..Now Partizan plays in League Cup UEFA.And that's bescase referee Mejuto Gonzales did not let us to play in League Champions,he dissalowed a clear goal for us against Fenerbahce,in qualifications, and that's only because we aren't so rich as Turkish club...Shame on you Mejuto..Now we have to play in this really good competiton.

Partizan's fierce rival is Red Star. This team doesn't play so good right now,but still it is very popular team.I ramember youthat they won a trophy in League Champions,1991..

Here are some players who are from Serbia:Mateja Kezman(PSG) ,Dejan Stankovic(Inter) ,Nemanja Vidic(Manchester UTD) ,Nikola Zigic(Valencia) ,Milos Krasic(CSKA Moscow) ,Bosko Jankovic(Palermo) ,Dusko Tosic(Werder Bremen) ,Bane Ivanovic(Chelsea) ...

Here are some retired players from Serbia:Savo Milosevic, Predrag Mijatovic, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Zoran Mirkovic, Dragan Stojkovic Piksi, Vladimir Jugovic, Dragan Dzajic, Rajko Mitic, Stjepan Bobek,Dejan Rambo Petkovic...

And some famous managers from serbia:Radomir Antic, Vujadin Boskov, Slobodan Santrac, Ratomir Dujkovic....

Did you ever hear for anyone of this people..For us they are Saints....Greetings from Serbia and think a little on us

Yes Antic is the national coach right now. Thank god to that, because for many years our football and profesional sport whatsoever is in grasp of all sort of crime, money washing etc. All sort of criminals buying clubs, one even bought himself a champion title (Arkan with Obilic in 90's), forcing coaches to put their contracted players into the national team so they could be sold with higher price. In UK you can'y even hire a foreign player if he is not a member of national team. Generaly ,our football was rising until early 90's. After FC Red Star won the european and world championship title all hell broke loose in terms of war in Yugoslavia and all went to the drain ,football included. Now we have only one strong organised club- Partizan, which always was a sort of government project. When established, in the 40's Partizan was under army's patronate (army was the strongest and wealthiest institution then).

The rivalry between partizan and red Star in legendary in Yugoslavia and Serbia, those two clubs were the best in Yugoslavia, with croatian and all other clubs included in the old league. In former Yugoslavia we had so called BIG 4, Red Star, Partizan, Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb as best clubs in the country, like Milan, Juventus, Inter and don't know who could be the fourth in Italy...

In today Serbia only Partizan and Red Star remained as serious pretender to any decent results in euro football. Unfortunately, being the wealthiest and biggest club in the Balkans in early 90's Red Star became the primary target for all sorts of vultures, politicians, gangsters and others who sucked all the money out of the club which is now in financial troubles, a shadow of former selves, having only the largest army of supporters in Serbia behind them. Even that is questionable, because in new serbian crime league, Partizan's gangsters were much more successfull, buying off more cheap titles in a laugh like league where all games must be finished before 19.00h , because dark will fall and 9 of 12 clubs in so called super league (haha) have no fuckin' light on the stadium.

Todays kids, going only after "winners" do not remember the glorious history of red Star, going to support cheapo Partizan, because they are "champions" of this ridicilous gangsta league called 3 for 3 ( you give me 3 points for my win and I'll get you this back when you need by loosing on purpose to you) , the number one gangster club in todays Serbia (ahead of Red Star, which also became gangsta owned, we have couple trials in Serbia about it, involving politicians, also former Red Star legends). With none of the clubs privatized, nobody knows who the owner is, and when something belongs to everybody, it actualy belongs to nobody.

Anyway, we all support the everlasting rivalry will rise again and Serbia will get back on the football map of the world, where it belongs. Our new coach Antic, who embrased the youth players from u19 and u21 temas who were semifinalist in last 2 Euro Championship competitions are the best guarantees for that. If the supporters unite, and realise that without strong Red Star there is no strong Partizan, and other way arround, we will have mighty Serbia again and hopefully a new champion from europe will rise again from this soil, as Red Star once did, and Partizan almost did in 1966 (lost finals from real Madrid). Offcourse, writting of this was not made by Ognjen, I'm his father, Ogi is only 9 years old so he couldn't wrote this stuff :)

nobody looks at him really but I think Kezman is amazing. perhaps the best serbian player acutally

Today it is not only problem to choose from the likes of Serbia, montenegro, croatia or Bosnia. Best example is Bojan Krkic who plays for Spain !?!? You can't blame him, many young people, and in his case, families went out of the country :( Trouble is, our sport federations are corrupted and they did'nt care about talented serbs playing arround the world. Young players are going out of the country with 16-17 years ... tough for them to stay patriotic when they have to run out of the country to earn some decent money or play their game. Worst thing is when your national team does not resemble quality but almost half of players are there because their managers have money to the national coach !?!? Hope that has changed now ... in matter of fact, we see it has changed :)

Generaly , in Bosnia you have slavic population with catholic, orthodox and muslim religion. Even though the muslims and orthodox have exactly the same origin, through history they have been accepted as separate nation, let's say this nation is born 10 years ago and they are now called bosnians. Most of them are of serb origin. Also you have majority of catholics from herzegovina who embrased catholicism even they had serb origin. Mostly we can blame the Serb orthodox chearch who does not recognise any serb as as a serb if they are not of orthodox religion. That is why all those herzegovina and lika and west bosnia catholics are now emrassed the croat identity... best example is family petrovic, from which famouse Drazen Petrovic and Aleksandar Petrovic are from. generaly , there is no difference at all between serbs and croats , but the religion. You had two brother slavic tribes decending to balkans almost 2K years ago... only religion separates us, everythjing else is the same, the language for example... In former yugoslavia, we are all poliglotes , we speak up to 6-7 languages, 4 of them, exactly the same - serb, croat, bosnian and montenegrin, only slovenian and macedonian differ a bit ...

but enough with history and stupid politics, because here everybody has his version of those 2 :)

The answer is - orthodox players play almost always for Serbia. This will change now with Montenegro, though they are orthodox, most of their players will paly for the new country, freshly separated from Serbia. but not all, some of them, still declaring as Serbs will play for bigger brother -Serbia. Same goes for Bosnia, from Rep. Of Srpska most of them will play for Serbia, not for native country Bosnia- because of ethnic dispute. Catholics, offcourse, goes for Croatia. Most unfortunate , but true ... Sport in here, is still in grip of daily politics.

The latest division goes for Kosovo, but Kosovo is a minor factor in sport, never had been a large player in nothing but maybe few wrestlers or boxers now and there. Todays Kosovo is inhabitted strictly by Albanians and only Albanians will play for it if it goes to any sport federation, though the minority of serbs there will play for Serbia.

If we speak about coruption in Serbia and crime, multiply this by factor of ten and you will have Kosovo. Today it is only an unfortunate land ruled bu narko bosses and arm smuglers, in middle of the path of going out from native Serbia, strictly on ethnic basis, because Albanians have chosen to go out. Sadly, instead of uniting inside in europe, we again have separations.. as europe goes larger, Yugoslavia and Serbia are smaller... But now in World chapionship in Waterpolo for example you have semi finals involving 3 FY countries all the time, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro :)
