BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I’ve seen a lot of news about supporters booing players and teams recently and wanted to let you know my feelings on the subject. When people pay money to go to matches, they have a right to do as they please. If they want to start booing from the very first minute, that’s their choice. They do as they want… But it doesn’t help.
No player stands in the tunnel before a game and thinks “You know what? Today I’m going to play a bad game”. Every time I go onto the pitch, I want to play the best game I can. I want each performance to be better than the last one.
But what I want I don’t always get. There are times when you just have a bad day. We are just like everyone else. I’m sure that anyone who reads this will be able to think of a time when they didn’t do their job as well as they could. When something they did at work went wrong. Maybe you were able to put that mistake right before anyone noticed? When you have thousands of people watching you and you make a mistake and you only have a maximum of 90 minutes to put that mistake right, it makes things tough!
So I don’t mind it when supporters boo. It’s their right. But when I support a team, I cheer and I encourage. Maybe the supporters are not aware of how much they help the team? Let me tell you. A lot!!!
Merci et a plus
Alex

good to hear from u again, i completely agree. Fans have every right to boo, but must understand how demoralizing it is to their own players. If they are gonna boo when they play bad, they better take of their shirts and dance and scream and sing their ass of when they play well!!!

'No player stands in the tunnel before a game and thinks “You know what? Today I’m going to play a bad game”.' You've clearly not seen Celtic's Lee Naylor recently!! Only kidding. Good luck this weekend against the Toffees.

Yes, fans have right to booo, but those that boo are idiots never the less It always the situation that most stupid idots start boooooooing because they don't know anything else... and then even bigger idiots follow them... I have a friend that likes to boooo... he is a complete idiot.... one big idiot starts it and then you many idiots follow because they are a lot of idiots just like this friend of mine... so all booooers are idiots

YOu are right...Fans pay the ticket so they have the right to do what they want, including boing... But, I recommend those fans to encourage and shout and make their players feeling better so they could change the situation instead of boooiingg,, I think this is more usefull

so lets look at an example. i support spartak moscow. my team plays home game at luzhniki. they play bad, and slowster Titov circles around the central circle in confusion how to best distribute the ball. i boo along with a few of my mates at the stands. Titov doesnt lose concentration, but the opposing team gets a moral boost, because the crowd is adding pressure to Titov. am i an idiot? i think you can boo your team for failure when they're doing their training sessions. hell, throw rotten eggs and tomatoes on their team bus, for sure. but to do that when the game is on? only if the supporter thinks his opponent is a weak team. and that's disrespect not only to the opponent, also to your team, and your money. which means, you never deserved the opportunity to pay for the ticket anyway. dont like your player? swear a bit and then cheer them on. dont wanna do that? dont call yourself a supporter. go eat prawn sandwiches instead.

ah, jut thought of the theater. do you boo when an actor plays your favourit role badly? football is more sacred than the theater stage. anyone should think about that before paying for the ticket.

I hear a lot of fans saying England till I die... So is it "Till I die" or "Booooo"? I mean, you are either this or that...

You can boo a player if he acts in a non sport spirit, not if he made a mistake...

Back in 2002 i went to see Tottenham play at Old Trafford, and the spurs got demolished (to put it nicely) 4-0. However, whilst i remember the result and the frustrations, the one thing that sticks in my head is the way the tottenham fans how were there kept on singing and cheering on the players, up until, and even after, the full time whistle. Obviously the booing is a sign of frustration on the part of the fans but clearly it's not going to help anyone or anything...

Yes, every fan has the right to boo because he paid, but as man of you mentioned, everybody should be aware of the consequences for its own team. I think If you want to how your anger about the perfomance of your team you should boo after the final whistle , or by the end of the first half.

Im sure that there are no players who thinks before the game “You know what? Today I’m going to play a bad game”, but there are players who are so confident, that they think"its not important how I play, Im the star...."

Most of the fans who posted now are fans of the top5 teams of england, it does not take much for us to be unhappy over our performance, but should we right then start to boo? no,we have to accept tha also our teams can have a few bad performances..

Boooing also has a very negative impact on players emotions... and one player emotional problem becomes the whole team's problem. People that boooed did it because of their own personal problems... and in return I can bet that England will fall down in their play now... now every players is scared and it was such a glorious beginig... 2-0 against Andora 4-1 against Croatia 5-1 against Kazakhstan 3-1 against Belarus 4 wins in a row, goal difference up to the sky... and fans still unhappy something will happen now you'll see...

It will be a long time before I reserve my judgement on how England are performing until they hopefully qualify for the World Cup and only then, once they play against the major teams in the world. I dont think there will be some kind of karma effect though because of the booing. I am not a fan of booing, but I am also no fan of Ashley Cole (who got booed during the England match) - he is a player who seems to be a little full of himself, and so I was happy that the fans reminded him that he is not all that!

Alex, I agree with you, what happens is that fans find it hard to understand that football players are working, like any of us, and as a reference you do well, everyone makes mistakes but these mistakes are never intentional. 100% agree with your opinion. Sorry for my English, I will try to improve it.

Football expect and are used to see the best games and spectacular moves,so when you don't live up to their expectations, they get angry because they find it insulting.Fans don't know that players are not machines, that you have personal lives just like them. But,that's football. P.S.I'm a big fan of Arsenal, and I hope you will be better in the future.Good luck.

I agree that fan's should be allowed to vent their anger during a match but to continuously boo one of your own player's is wrong. It can't do the player or the team any good at all, were supposed to be SUPPORTER'S not hater's. I've been an Arsenal supporter since the mid 70's & in those day's if a player was off form you could hear the groan's of frustration rolling down the terrace's but at no time was there an open condemnation of the player. The booing, like diving, is something that's crept in to our game & i for one don't like either of them...

ok, fans have the right to boooo, but it demoralises players man. The fans want their team to win all and lose nothing, it is possible with only arsenal like in 2002
