In my last post, I had a pop at Denilson and Diaby.Michael took issue with some of what I said and wrote in to say: 'If you expect Denilson to be a playmaker (especially from DM) then you're right, hes not good enough. What he does effectively is keep the ball moving to the playmakers and when he does get a clear sight at goal he can hit them as we've seen. He is a short pass specialist that keeps the ball moving. 'He is very accurate bc he doesn't take chances and he does this game after game, and hes also underrated defensively. 'Regarding Diaby, I know the exact play you are referring to and Walcott was wrong, he ran too early and Spurs were playing too deep for a realistic ball to be played, Diaby was right in that case, Theo should have realized this and checked back like Diaby mentioned. I agree he dwells on the ball far too much and agree that he needs to be more positive, but that case you pointed out was not one of his fault entirely (In the barca game, same circumstance, YES it was his fault). The sky i sthe limit for Diaby if he can start making better decisions, funny how we said that about Eboue and he hasn't gotten any better 'I will say Rosicky and Eboue need to leave, In Rosicky's case I wouldnt mind giving him until Christmas to see what he can do, but Eboue continually shows he can't make the right decision when we need him to.' My reply: On Denilson, I have to admit he's done better than I predicted. He does a job. But I preferred Flamini in his position. If you check his stats, you'll see Denilson covers a lot less ground than Flamini used to for Arsenal. So Denilson's not even a good enough 'water carrier' in my book because to use some other Arsenal fans' words: 'He's too lazy!'
On Diaby, I maintain he should have knocked the ball into the space Theo was running into. You don't always have to play to feet. Indeed, a good midfielder would realise the best pass for Theo is one he can run onto. The service Theo gets from the Arsenal midfield is generally appalling. They play him the wrong sort of pass. Diaby just wants everyone to play his way. But Diaby's way is largely ineffective. Diaby reminds me Alex Hleb, who used to dribble in circles and rarely shoot. Diaby has some ability but he gets caught on the ball too much, so I think he'll end up as another Hleb.
