Ruled by the ref. Literally.

bad refereeing,Brazilian Championship, Corinthians,Brazilian football
I'm disapointed. Trully. But then, who I have to blame but myself for believing things had improved in Brazilian football?

This past weekend we had week three. And it's as boring as the first one was. Alright, the reason for that mainly is the lousy conception CBF has for a calendar - for the moment being, let's put that aside.

Boring reason number two: Who wins, who loses, who draws, are all decided by the whistle. So far, the most beneficiated is São Paulo, but no surprises here, ain't it? Of course I'm not watching all the matches, but I've seen enough to know the Brazilian Championship is stained. Brazilian football is stained by bad refereeing.

São Paulo v Atlético-PR week two. 2-2. São Paulo scored in the last minute the equalizer. And. If a Washington handball wasn't enough, the scorer was off-sided (can't remember the player's name). Alright, it was just a draw, and you can choose to see it like Atletico did not loose, and at least earned one point.
Really?
Week three. Atlético-PR v Náutico. 2-3. Atlético was winning 2-0. And as far as I heard on the radio [haven't seen the match], a Náutico player should have been sent off for a vicious foul. The guy remained on the pitch, and helped his side win the game and get the three points. As for Atlético, they're now in the last position on the table with only 1 point, for that draw with São Paulo.

And for the record, I don't support Atlético-PR. I'm a Corinthians fan. And talking about it...

Fluminense 2 -2 Corinthians. Brazil cup quarter final leg 2. My Corinthians got through to the semis to play Vasco. But that is beside the point now.
Fred. Yeah, the guy people are making a big deal for his return to Brazilian football. [Though I can't see why...] He's far from being the good player he once were, so mach so he only knows how to foul now. And he did. He could have broken William's leg, but thankfully he didn't. Do I need to mention he should have been sent off with a straight red card? Now, guess what he got *roll eyes*. Only a yellow card. And, with him being a pest on the pitch, could have helped Fluminense even more to get through. All in all, my Corinthians passed; but with a draw, that could easily been avoided, if not the referee.

And it goes on and on and on.... Atlético-MG 2-1 Grêmio week two. 92 minutes and a non existent penalty is marked for Atlético and Grêmio loses the one point it had with the draw.

And no, I don't support Grêmio. I pretty much hate them. As I do Atlético-MG. So for me no bias.

Palmeiras 0-0 São Paulo week three. The result? For me, grand! But, one penalty Palmeiras should have gotten, and very likely scored, could have changed the result. I wonder how can São Paulo be that lucky.....

And there are a lot more I can't point exactly, like that vicous foul against Neymar in the Fluminense-Santos match, etc.

I love football. Always have, dispite living it aside for a while. But the worst I can see is how the games results aren't fair. They're not decided for 11 v 11, or for coach decision v coach decision! I knwo it's impossible to avoid some errors, but week in week out? Time and time again we get shit like this, and nothing is made to change? Why The FUCK not?

You see, we have this STJD, right? And they're "re-whistling" the matches, searching for 'anti-football' atittudes from player. And one can only wonder if a bad referreing which changes the results isn't anti-football....
And Oh! Of couse! They're using recorded videos to judge the cases. Isn't it ironic? The same video-tapes the Federations are reluctant to use during the matches to fix referring mistakes at real time, they don't thing twice to use and punish players...... weeks, months after the matches! Is there a better word than incompetence to discribe this.... irony?

I am, with no doubs, in favour to use video cameras in real time to avoid anything that isn't 11v11 to decide the match. If we CAN do that, if there is enough technology for such thing, I wonder why football has to be taken as a cavern-age game.
I know, I know, on poorer divisions, Série C, D, and so, it'd be dificult to afford it. Alright then, in time video technology will get there too, it's no excuse. Or what, we should stop football altogether here in Brazil, coz we don't have decent stadiums as well, with enough security and comfortability? Everything at its own time, and it's past the time to start being smart and get the football better, and most importantly, fairer.

On a side note, something that really bothers me as well, is the referees not being "professionals". i don't mean they can't do the job, they can. They fail alright, but everybody does. The point is. A referee is a medical doctor and does refereeing as a hobby. He's a psychologist and on his free time do some refereeing. How come players are professionals, managers are professionals, all dedicated to the one job that is playing/managing football, and the refs don't get it like that? It IS a proffession, so it should be done by professionals, dedicated to the craft entirely, simple as that.
Is it so impossible to expect, or is it the least?

I only wonder....

PS: However talking about the refereeing, bad refereeing, in this post, I chose not to mention the biggest mistake of all by a referee along with a Federation. You know what I'm talking about, don't you? So, talking about the shit they did to Chelsea in the Champions League still hurts and still drives me mad. Too mad. So, not now........

Cheers.
