Manyora SFC continues to shine...! (from the desk of Mbulelo Kwali)

BROOKLYN - The home team, IX Attackers came to this game at the back of some sterling performances but underestimated the never say die attitude of the Mighty Manyora SFC. The game was played at a pulsating pace with the young IX Attackers making their intentions clear from the first whistle. It was a very good display of football with both teams cutting each other's attacking moves in the last third of the pitch.

It was IX Attackers who drew first blood from seemed like a goal scored from an off-side position with the referee (an Attackers member) ignoring the flag from his assistant and allowing the goal to stand. From then on, Attackers piled on the pressure and a defensive error by Mr. Reliable, Luntu resulted in the second goal for the young lads. Manyora tried to claw their way back in the first half, but misfiring upfront ensured that the young lads take their 2 - 0 cushion to the break.

At half time a Manyora SFC made four changes with Kwanza replacing Theo in goals. Manyora SFC lost the services of both Theo and Lindeni due to injury. Luntu played the entire game with a minor groin injury. The second half belonged to Manyora SFC from the whistle with the seniors making their intentions clear having to play with wind behind them. Two more changes were made with Mike replacing Sam on the right wing and Nhlanhla replacing Thando. Bulelani replaced Eric and Sisa replaced Moripi at half time. Thato replaced Lumkile and really had a good outing on the night.

We took the game to the Attackers with Mike, Mogale, Baks, Nhlanhla and Bulelani dictating terms in midifield. Mike scrambled the first goal from Manyora SFC inside the 6 yard area and five minutes later recived a great cross from Bulelani to double his tally and earn Mayora SFC the equlising goal. At that point, Manyora SFC were smelling victory and Sisa opened his account for the season beating an off side trap to snatch home the winner 10 minutes from time. More and more opportunities were created but squandered as fatigue cripped in for both teams.

This is how they lined up:

Goals: Theo

Defenders: Ray, Luntu, Lindeni, Lumkile

Midfielders: Thando, Kwanza, Eric, Baks, Sam

Strikers: Moripi

RESERVES:

Bulelani, Mike, Mogale, Aaron, Sisa, Thato, Nhlanhla

Well done gents!

I think Baks deserves the man-of-the-match award for all the dirty work last night. It's a close call as Ray was not fazed by the youngsters either as he proved that he does not need a year to gain his fitness.

Overall, a great game Gents! We remain on the summit with 15 points from 5 games...
